The Virginia State Police Alumni, Inc. was founded in 1973. The organization was created to maintain an interest in the Department of State Police and stay informed on the progress and new goals of the Department.
The purpose of the Alumni is to promote fellowship among its members, their spouses and friends. There are three membership dinner meetings held each year at various locations around the state, usually scheduled in April, August and December. Members receive three newsletters per year (The Grapevine) which contain photos of events and general operational information as well as detailed information about the upcoming dinner meeting. The Directory is published annually.
In the past years, we have enjoyed three different Alumni Days: one at State Police Headquarters, one at the new driving training facility in Blackstone, Virginia and the latest was held in Appomattox, Virginia. We are looking forward to having more Alumni Days in the future. The Department of State Police has been very generous with equipment demonstrations and has supported the events with attendance of many of the active members and command staff.
The Alumni is an active supporter of the Virginia State Police Museum which was created in 2000 and dedicated to Colonel Denny M. Slane. The Alumni also actively supports each Virginia State Police graduating class with the presentation of awards for outstanding achievement.
We sincerely hope that you will consider becoming a member of Virginia State Police Alumni, Inc. and continue the friendships that you have made while employed with the Department of State Police. A membership application can be downloaded from this site, or you can contact a member of the Alumni to obtain one. Thank you for your interest in the Alumni, and we look forward to seeing you at a conference. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
