Military Excess Property Program (The 1033 Program)
The 1033 Program permits the Secretary of Defense to transfer, without charge, excess U. S. Department of Defense (DoD) personal property (supplies and equipment) to State and local law enforcement agencies (LEAs). This Program has allowed law enforcement agencies to acquire vehicles, weapons, computer equipment, body armor, fingerprint equipment, night vision equipment, radios and televisions, tents and sleeping bags, photographic equipment, various clothing items, and more.(Debbie this links them to the new page I’ve made)
State and Local Law Enforcement Equipment Procurement Program (The 1122 Program)
The National Defense Authorization Act (Section 1122) authorizes state and local governments to purchase law enforcement equipment, as delineated by law, through the federal government.
