Health Insurance

One statewide plan with various options to choose from.
Premiums vary depending on options selected.

Life Insurance

No cost to employee.
2 x salary for natural death.
4 x salary for accidental death.
Dismemberment coverage.
May purchase additional life insurance coverage for yourself and family members at low group rates through payroll deduction.

Short-term and Long-term Disability

Income replacement for qualified periods of incapacity over 7 calendar days.
Covers partial or total disability.
Income replacement based on years of service.
Increased benefits for catastrophic disability.
Long-term disability begins after 6 months of short-term disability and may continue to normal retirement age.
12 month waiting period required.

Long-term Care Insurance

Services for long-term care can be provided in the form of home care, assisted living facilities, adult day care or nursing facilities.
Available to eligible state employees, their spouses, parents and parents-in-law.
Premiums are paid by the employee through payroll deduction. All other participants are billed directly.

Retirement

Retirement funded by a 5% pre-tax salary reduction plan.
Service Retirement - vested after 5 years of service.
- Civilian employees may retire with full benefits based on age and service requirements.
- Sworn employees may retire with full benefits:
  - Age 50 with 25 years of service.
  - Age 60 with 5 years of service.
  - Receive supplement to retirement benefit with 20 years of hazardous duty service. The supplement is payable until social security age.
- Provisions for death in service.

Deferred Compensation

A voluntary program that permits you to build retirement savings on a pre-tax basis:

Contributions are deducted from salary each pay period.

Several plan investment options available to choose from.

Taxes are paid when your funds are paid to you.

You choose the method of payment and commencement date of your payments.

Cash Match variable depending upon funding (currently up to $20 per pay period if deferring at least $40.00 per pay period).

Annual Leave

A specified amount is earned each semi-monthly pay period, depending on the number of years of employment with the State. A limited amount of accumulation may be carried over from year to year or paid out upon separation from service.

Flexible Benefits

This benefit allows you to set aside a portion of your pay, on a pre-tax basis, into an account for predictable qualifying medical and dependent care expenses.

A Medical Reimbursement Account allows the employee to pay for the out-of-pocket medical, dental, and vision care expenses not covered by your health benefits plan.

A Dependent Care Reimbursement Account allows the employee to pay daycare expenses for eligible dependents.
